THEME FOUR - Supporting the Labour Market Attachment of Target Populations
Equity is a cornerstone of our education, skills and training systems. However, some populations experience challenges in entering or re-entering the labour market because of their unique characteristics such as their level of experience and skills or access to appropriate opportunities. These individuals require more supports than the general workforce in order to overcome the challenges they experience.
Provincial and territorial governments are committed to supporting all individuals to fully participate in the labour market based on their skills and aspirations. We are keenly aware of the barriers faced by some populations. We have invested in a range of practices that provide targeted supports to these populations, while respecting their unique circumstances. These initiatives support Aboriginal populations, immigrants, youth, older workers, and others. The promising practices profi led under this theme highlight some successful approaches.
